The Anndore House came to Hyatt recently. They acquired Two Roads Hospitality in 2018 which included Joie de Vivre Hotels and this property is now part of part of that group. At the time of our stay Toronto was still under a Stay At Home order and so most of the hotel’s facilities were closed. However it still gave us a chance to experience the property’s vibe.
The property has 113 rooms and suites, Constantine restaurant and lounge, The Crow’s Nest barber shop, the Scarlet Door Café and a rooftop event space. Sadly all were closed. But our Master Suite was very enjoyable.
As Hyatt Globalists we were upgraded to one of their 550-square foot suites with a living area that included a sectional sofa, long work space and dining area, along with a separate king bedroom and bathroom. We liked the exposed brick walls, artwork and iPod-compatible vinyl record player, though sadly we didn’t bring any records. We will next time.
The living room and dining room space felt like a condo and was actually great for lounging and Zoom calls.
The bedroom was also spacious with a large, open closet along one wall. The bed was comfy if a tad too soft for our liking.
The bathroom was also quite large with a walk-in rain shower and ample space. Most new hotels don’t have bathtubs these days, although this suite’s bathroom was definitely large enough to have both a tub and ample shower, even if they just opted for just the shower. The fixtures and NY subway tiles completed the look nicely.
This is a nice property with funky rooms, good design and some thoughtful touches such as bathrobes. Frankly, we don’t understand why many North American hotels don’t stock bathrobes, but this property ‘gets’ the guest experience.
We found the staff friendly and the bones of the place to be great. It’s also really well located near the trendy Yorkville area and Church and Wellesley, Toronto’s fun LGBTQ district. We look forward to visiting the property again when the restaurant and bar are open.
The Anndore House is a really nice addition to Hyatt in Toronto. We will be back.
