The Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel is one of many Marriott properties in Montreal, Canada’s chic city in the predominantly french speaking province of Quebec. Located between the CBD, major shopping and nightclub areas and the beautiful historic area known as Old Montreal, this property is a great jumping off point for business or leisure travel.
Like many Renaissance hotels this property emphasizes its public spaces for meeting friends and hanging out. However, since we were here in the era of COVID, the public spaces were empty. But we liked the vibe.
We were upgraded to a 500 sq/ft Loft King suite. In normal times this also comes with an evening turndown service, however when we stayed here, housekeeping was only upon request. We actually asked on the Marriott app for housekeeping service during our stay but it was somehow missed.
The room itself was spacious, well laid out and comfortable. It emphasized art and creativity.
The king bed was comfortable and the amenities modern and well maintained.
During our stay the Pan Asian inspired restaurant EAST wasn’t open but the AIR Rooftop Terrace was and it was excellent with great food, attentive service and a good wine selection. These are hallmarks of Montreal’s dinning scene.
We’d like to give this property another try during normal times. From the staff we interacted with it feels like a hotel which guests are quite loyal to. And that’s always a good sign.
