The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is an eco-friendly luxurious retreat in Northern Thailand. With just 15 elegant tents and one Explorer Lodge, the property is refined, understated and extremely worthwhile. Arriving by boat you instantly shake off any stress from travel or the chaos of Bangkok.
The tented accommodation adds to the feeling of relaxation as does the attentive yet discrete staff. Nothing was too much trouble and yet they were always unobtrusive and refined.
Nestled within the jungle vegetation each tent is private, quiet and laid out as an oasis unto itself. Many guests spent a good part of the day relaxing in their tents and for good reason. They’re beautiful.
Every tent has its own motif and decorations, though they are all united with flourishes of Northern Thai arts and crafts fused with a decidedly colonial feel.
Needless to say the generous soaking tub and outdoor shower impressed. As did the views of the river below and the hot tub on our private deck.
Watching the elephants graze in the morning with a coffee on the deck or viewing the stars from the hot tub at night was a true indulgence.
The property is renowned for their spa treatments and of course their F&B. Most guests like to start the evening with a sunset drink at the Burma Bar which overlooks Northern Thailand, Laos and Myanmar… the Golden Triangle.
The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle really outdid themselves in the culinary department. The food was exquisite with an array of Northern Thai, western and other Asian dishes.
The chef’s creations were innovative and approachable. Delicate yet hearty.
Perhaps the greatest treat on property is the opportunity to commune with the elephants and their mahouts which the property has rescued and supports. Guests can partake in the elephant’s morning rituals and even help the mahouts bathe them. In the end being able to learn about these gentle creatures and spend time with them is the biggest luxury of all.
The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is highly recommended. It’s an indulgence which you can feel good about. Most guests stay 2 – 3 nights. They arrived tired from their journeys in Asia but leave refreshed, relaxed and renewed after their experiences with the elephants. We keep looking for new reasons to return. In the end the best reason of all is that we really love the experiences.
