Atlanta is Hotlanta

Atlanta is the symbol of the new South, affluent, progressive and just a tad attitudinal. This Southern Belle is home to Coca Cola , Delta Air Lines and Turner broadcasting

This city has a vibe. It’s known for great southern cuisines and offers a mix of everything you need in a city… shopping, culture, recreational activities and friendly people. Wow the people of the South are nice.

The smartest place in town is  Buckhead, the third-largest business district in Atlanta, behind Downtown and Midtown. It’s a nice enclave of mansions, wonderful restaurants and shopping. You’re going to begin to think I’m a shopaholic.

The place to say is the JW Marriott.

The JW brand is at a higher level within the Marriott group and that shows in the caliber of room, level of luxury and precision of staff. This particular JW Marriott directly adjoins the Lenox Mall. The Lenox Mall has all the usual US  flagships stores like Neiman Marcus and Macy’s as well as Zara which is a little harder to find in the USA. Yes my European friends will be shocked to hear that.

The hotel also has a great club level which is perfect when traveling with kids as it offers more meal choices in the evening  than just the traditional snacks. I know most people in our Going Global community travel for business and as such often stay in club level rooms whether by hotel elite status or simply by upgrading, but I am a big fan of also availing yourself of the club level when you’re on a family vacation. It makes the trip that much easier and more relaxing.

Atlanta DarkBut Atlanta also has lots of fun things to do. It’s not all about luxury accommodations and shopping. The aquarium is a must visit, it is simply one of the best in the world. The Coca Cola Museum is more interesting than it sounds. It’s a chance to see an American icon evolving and learn about the drink that changed the planet with more marketing than any other brand.

A nice hot spot for dinner in Buckhead is the restaurant Aja.  Good price and great fusion food and I really like the décor. They also have a nice patio for the right season.  Basically it works.

Buckhead is only 30 minutes from the airport and you can take the Marta train right inside the JW Marriott. This definitely beats doing an overnight at the airport.  Enjoy Hotlanta!
