Cathay Pacific just debuted their new refined livery. While it’s not a major departure from their previous livery, the new design ethos is meant to celebrate Cathay Pacific’s ties to Hong Kong and the airline’s view of the future.
Cathay tells us that they are updating the livery as part of an ongoing effort to improve the Cathay Pacific customer experience. The existing fleet will be repainted with the new livery as part of normal maintenance schedules during the next five years. The first new series of aircraft to launch with the livery design will be the A350 when CX begins receiving the aircraft in 2016.
“The livery is a vital part of the airline’s overall brand image,” says Ivan Chu, Chief Executive.
“When you think about Cathay Pacific. you think about our aircraft; and the livery is a symbol of our values on our most important physical asset. It represents Cathay Pacific in and out of Hong Kong as the aircraft take off and touch down in all our destinations around the world.”
All in all, the red swoosh is gone, the lines are cleaner and the overall look is very “modern Asian”, according to our Art Director and she should know because she went to art school.
As we said, most importantly we like it and can’t wait to experience their A350s.
