The Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok is something of a legend in Asia. It is located in the heart of the Thai capital in Ratchaprasong and since being built in 1987 has been witness to bombings, coups, celebrities, high society weddings, films and more. Throughout Thailand’s ups and downs it has stood as a symbol of why travellers love Thailand; it is welcoming, authentic, service-focused and infused with the charm and diversity which makes Bangkok fascinating.
There is so much history to the Grand Hyatt Erawan and the Erawan Shrine and previous hotel on this site that we could write a book, for the time being let’s just say the property occupies important land and the adjacent shrine is revered by Thais and visitors alike. The Erawan Shrine is a magical place to learn about and visit.
With 380 rooms and suites the Grand Hyatt Erawan is a large property which reflects a what true Grand Hyatt should be. It’s large, elegant, loaded with amenities but highly service-oriented. Luxury doesn’t have to come in a boutique hotel if it is well managed and the Grand Hyatt Erawan is impeccably managed.
The Grand Suite Kings feature 70sqm of space divided into two washrooms, a living room and bedroom. Decorated like the rest of the property in a Thai design with modern accents, it’s a nice retreat from the activity of Bangkok.
The suite is large and well laid out but also features nice touches, such as a floor to ceiling makeup mirror in the bedroom and Bluetooth wireless speaker systems in both the living room and bedroom.
The Living room has a small two-piece toilet near the entrance which makes it great for entertaining colleagues or friends as you can close off the bedroom and main washroom.
The main washroom features a walk-in shower and deep soaking tub along with two sinks.
The area also features a nice walk-in closet.
The Grand Hyatt Erawan has perhaps the best Grand Club Lounge in the Hyatt system and that’s saying a lot. The staff turn over is very low and so they welcome elite and return guests by name for years on end. We cannot stress how excellent the lounge staff are. The property is also the type of hotel which is a local destination so it’s a great meeting place. Aside from conference and wedding venues it offers Tables restaurant with classical European cuisines cooked at your table, Spasso an Italian restaurant by day and club with live music by night, the Erawan Tea Room, the Dining Room which features a grand breakfast buffet, Erawan Bakery and You & Mee, a favorite lunch spot, along with Bar @494 which is a champagne and wine bar. The hotel´s i.sawan Residential Spa & Club features a fully-equipped gym, massage and beauty treatments, and they have a lovely, well serviced outdoor pool.
The Grand Hyatt Erawan is a great choice in Bangkok which is a city full of great hotels. The Erawan is different though, its reliable, authentic, truly Thai service sets it apart. The staff, the amenities, the location and the mystic of this property make it a must-try hotel.
