Luang Prabang is one of the few remaining tourist destinations in Southeast Asia which retains its authentic charm while still offering all the amenities for a truly luxury vacation. And no hotel delivers this experience better than the 3 Nagas which is located in the heart of this UNESCO heritage site. It reflects the area’s tranquility and natural wonder.
Sitting at the confluence of the Mekong and Khan Rivers, Luang Prabang in Laos offers a seamless combination of French Colonialism and Buddhist spiritualism in unspoiled elegance. The 3 Nagas was an icon before becoming part of the MGallery collection by Sofitel. This means you not only have the benefit of staying in an authentic and traditional hotel but you can also enjoy the benefits of Le Club AccorHotels which helped us earn an upgrade to perhaps the nicest suite on property.
The 3 Nagas is situated in two buildings with just 15 rooms and suites. Our suite combined Indochinese design elements with traditional Laos culture. The look, feel and execution was flawless and yet real. This is something which is very hard for a hotel to pull off.
Check in was seamless and enjoyable. Our Host Noy met us with a welcome drink and a big smile. She and the entire staff made the stay exquisite. Our team spends hundreds of nights a year in hotels so it’s quite a compliment to say Noy and the rest of the team at the 3 Nagas were among the most professional, most genuine and most accommodating staff we’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
The soft product in a hotel like the 3 Nagas is critical, but the hard product also matched the service excellence by being comfortable, luxurious and real.
Perhaps the nicest feature of our suite was the large balcony which overlooked Luang Prabang’s main street and allowed for a wonderful view of the saffron-clad monks in the morning Alms Giving procession. It also offered a respite from the heat during the midday and a great perch to have a glass of wine and people watch in the evening.
Luang Prabang is a magical destination which should be on anyone traveling to Southeast Asia’s bucket list. It’s a town of deep spiritual beliefs and strong cultural traditions. It combines a French love of food with the easy-going Laos approach to life. And the perfect way to experience this special destination is the 3 Nagas which is a special gem of a hotel. Leave the light on, we will be back.
