Sam and Aleisa are a typical New York couple: busy, stressed, and always connected to their phones and laptops. They love their city life, but they also crave some peace and quiet from time to time. That’s why they decided to try something different for their vacation: glamping in California.
Glamping, or glamorous camping, is a way of enjoying nature without sacrificing comfort and convenience. It’s perfect for people who want to experience the outdoors, but don’t have the skills, equipment, or desire to camp in the traditional way. Glamping sites offer cozy tents, cabins, or trailers with amenities like beds, electricity, bathrooms, and even Wi-Fi. Some also provide meals, activities, and services to make your stay more enjoyable.
Sam and Aleisa chose to glamp near Big Sur in California, They booked a safari-style tent with a custom-designed mattress, a wood-burning fire pit, and a private deck overlooking the redwood forest. They also had their meals catered. Hey they are New Yorkers!
“We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and reconnect with nature and each other. We had never camped before, and we didn’t want to deal with the hassle of setting up a tent, cooking over a fire, or sleeping on the ground. Glamping seemed like the perfect solution for us,” said Sam.
They packed their bags, flew to San Francisco, and rented a car to drive to Big Sur. Along the way, they enjoyed the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the rugged cliffs, and the rolling hills. They arrived at their glamping site in the afternoon, and were greeted by the friendly staff who showed them to their tent.
“We were amazed by how beautiful and spacious our tent was. It had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, a heater, a mini-fridge, and even a USB charger. It felt like a luxury hotel room, but in the middle of the forest. We could hear the birds singing, the wind blowing, and the creek flowing. It was so peaceful and relaxing,” said Aleisa.
They spent the next three days exploring the area, hiking the trails, visiting the beaches, and admiring the wildlife. They also took advantage of the resort’s offerings, such as yoga classes, wine tastings, and massages. They enjoyed delicious meals at a nearby restaurant, or ordered room service to their tent. They also made s’mores over the fire pit, and cuddled under the stars.
“We had the best of both worlds: nature and comfort. We didn’t have to worry about anything, except having fun and enjoying each other’s company. We felt so refreshed and rejuvenated after our glamping trip. It was exactly what we needed,” said Sam.
They also noticed that their relationship improved during their glamping adventure. They had more time and attention for each other, and they shared more laughs and conversations. They learned new things about each other, and discovered new interests and hobbies. They also appreciated each other more, and felt more grateful and happy.
“Glamping brought us closer together. We realized how much we love and care for each other, and how much we have in common. We also realized how much we depend on technology, and how it can distract us from the present moment. Glamping helped us to disconnect from our devices, and reconnect with ourselves and each other,” said Aleisa.
They also had some funny moments during their glamping trip, especially when they encountered some challenges and surprises. They joked about how ill-equipped they would be on their own in the wilderness, and how they would probably get lost, hungry, or scared. They also laughed about some of the quirky and unexpected things they saw and experienced, such as a raccoon stealing their food, a deer wandering into their tent, or a power outage during a storm.
“Glamping was an adventure for us. We never knew what to expect, and we had to adapt and improvise. We had some mishaps and difficulties, but we also had some amazing and memorable experiences. We had a lot of fun, and we learned a lot. We learned to be more flexible, adventurous, and resilient. We also learned to appreciate the simple things in life, such as a warm fire, a cozy bed, and a beautiful view,” said Sam.
They returned to New York with a new perspective and a new appreciation for their life. They decided to make some changes to their lifestyle, such as spending more time outdoors, reducing their screen time, and prioritizing their relationship. They also decided to go glamping again, and explore other destinations and sites.
“Glamping in California changed our lives. It was one of the best vacations we ever had, and one of the best decisions we ever made. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different, and to anyone who wants to improve their relationship and well-being. Glamping is not just a way of traveling, it’s a way of living,” said Aleisa.
