Asia Is A Great Place To Be An Ex-Pat Or Digital Nomad

Asia is a large and diverse continent which moves from mountainous regions to tropical beaches, small northern towns to sprawling metropolises and everything in-between. It’s a great place to visit but also a great place to spend a few years as an ex-pat to build your career, improve your language skills or just broaden your horizons.

QUALITY OF LIFE

Asia is home to some of the world’s most livable cities. With modern infrastructure and thriving communities, these cities are great places to live, work and raise a family.

Asia is also home to some of the world’s most affordable cities. Compared to living in North America or Europe, you can expect to pay a small fraction of your income for food, utilities, clothing and transportation. Of course some of the most expensive cities in the world are also in Asia, so look to smaller regional cities other than capital cities.

HEALTHY LIVING

With the growing popularity of medical tourism, a number of Asian countries are investing in their healthcare sectors. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege, in many Asian countries, which means that everyone is eligible for free or reduced-cost healthcare. And if you’re not covered by any government plan, may employers add health insurance to pay packages.

Healthcare in places like Thailand and South Korea are top notch and tend to be world leaders in cosmetic surgeries.

GREAT FOR EX-PATS

Many Asian countries are magnets for talent because of their robust economies. This attracts multinational companies who want western talent to work alongside local hires. This is a huge benefit if you’re looking to make a long-term investment in your career. Spending a few years in Singapore or Hong Kong looks great on a resume.

CLEAN LIVING

Asia is quickly emerging as a leader in terms of environmentalism. The region has a number of extremely sustainable and environmentally conscious nations, each with a unique approach to sustainability. This means in many countries you have close access to gorgeous national parks, bucolic small towns or beautiful beaches.

Of course Asia is also home to some terrible air pollution and other environmental concerns, you just have to choose wisely.
