Many of us dream of a vacation home in the sun. For me, South Florida always pops to mind.
The thought of escaping brutal winters and having a permanent vacation plan is a wonderful thing. But we all know there has to be a hefty cost to a second home and so most people opt to pay for hotels along the way rather than adding an on-going financial burden.
It’s sad but true, a vacation home can be a large cost unless you meet realtor of the sun Michelle Farber Ross.
When Michelle finds you a deal, it will be an investment for growth. Ok so you spend $400 a month on an association fee, but if purchase your home at the right price your apartment can double in worth over the course of a decade and along the way you’ll have a place you call home. You can wash your clothes, keep personal items year round and share it with friends and family
Ocean front and inter-costal in Florida will always have a premium. There is a lack of properties there and so NOW is the time to buy. If you are coming in from Europe, then it’s a steal. Michelle knows the places you are looking for. A townhouse further in land or a small boudoir by the beach. Fort Lauderdale is growing fast. It is trying to keep up with Miami and hotels like the Gala are popping up more and more. Fort Lauderdale used to not have the big brand hotels and so it just wasn’t in the same class as Miami but now with the W and Ritz Carlton, it is the place to be.
I was lucky to be involved with MMD Realty when I joined them to cook in one of their prestige listings. It was for the NHL Drafts and I was cooking up a storm on my PALEO book for their elite client list. Fort Lauderdale still is a village and people know each other. It is a great place to be. Even the airport has such an appeal that people would rather fly out of there than Miami, even if Miami is their destination. Sawgrass shopping mall is 30 minutes away. This is where Gucci, Prada and Ferragamo are all discounted and the shopping is truly never ending.
MMD Realty has listings from $150k to 12 million. There are customers from all over the world that want a piece of South Florida.
Miami has become overcrowded and expensive. Fort Lauderdale still has the appeal of what Florida had 20 years ago. Sun, Sand and water and the fishing is some of the best in the world. Head out on an inexpensive private charter with 1st mate Hunter LaFever. Cook up a storm, live like a local and love the South Florida vibe.
