At the recent Skytrax World Airport Awards Singapore’s Changi Airport took the top honors for the fourth year in a row. We confess Changi is a favorite of our Editors and so its no surprise that other fellow travelers feel the same. If you look at the list there’s a clear trend… Asian airports are liked by passengers. The only North American airport to make the top 20 list of the world’s best airports is Vancouver (YVR).
The World Airport Awards matter because they are voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The survey and awards process is independent and guaranteed free of any airport influence or interference in final results. The World Airport Awards are a global benchmark of airport excellence, and widely known as the Passengers Choice Awards.
This is why airport mangers care. Mr Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport Group said “To be named the World’s Best Airport by Skytrax for the fourth year running is a significant achievement for Changi Airport and a clear affirmation that we continue to hit the right notes in our pursuit of service excellence.” And he’s right.
