Vacation Shopping

Shopping Vacation

Vacation shopping brings out the best and worst in people. To some people the idea of shopping on a vacation is a nightmare. To others it’s the best thing on earth. Now imagine if there was a couple and one partner loved to shop and the other didn’t.  This is a common complaint which I hear a lot as it makes planning a getaway quite difficult.

But relax because I have found the perfect one night away where you can shop until you drop but also have great dining and accommodation at the same time.  So, for those of you who have a partner that hates shopping they can enjoy a fabulous hotel while you indulge.

My advice is to visit the Fashion Outlets of Chicago and stay at the Loews.

The Loews hotel is modern, sleek and only a few minutes from O’Hare. The last thing you will feel is that you are staying at an airport hotel. The hotel has spacious modern rooms and is 5 star all the way. It is next to the Capital Grill, a fantastic American steakhouse chain that also have specialty cocktails and extensive seafood options.

Just a few blocks away is the best outlet mall I have ever been to. If you are looking for real top designers heavily discounted items than this is the place to It’s not a huge mall but what you do have is outlets that are hard to find.

Here are just a few brands you can find

Prada

Gucci

Jannie jack

Halston

Saks

Neiman Marcus

Bloomingdale’s

Etro

Lulu lemon

Vince

And many many more.

Here are some of the deals we found

A Halston gown. My wife was looking for one for an event and found an $800 dress reduced to $288 then a further 70% off.

Me, for the deal of the decade. I always wanted a Prada trolley bag as I travel so much.

They are close to $3,000 in the stores.

Prada had one reduced to $1400. Then had a further discount bringing it down the $1,079.

This is a classic bag that’s hard to find discounted.

After a full afternoon shopping, we relaxed in the spacious room at the Loews. Got ready for dinner at Capital Grill and had a delicious fillet minion, shrimp cocktail and buttery rich Californian Chardonnay.

Then back to the hotel for a great night’s sleep and were up in the morning to take the free shuttle to the airport that runs every 15 minutes.

This was a quick, successful and restful shopping getaway.
