At Alma Resort Cam Ranh, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a way of life. This sprawling 30-hectare beachfront retreat is giving guests a unique opportunity to connect with nature, reduce their carbon footprint, and contribute to a greener future. Whether it’s planting a tree, harvesting fresh produce, or experiencing one of Vietnam’s most ambitious solar power projects, Alma is proving that luxury and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
Plant a Tree, Leave a Legacy
Every afternoon, between 3 PM and 4 PM, Alma’s younger guests—and those young at heart—roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty at the “Green Hands, Green Future” tree-planting activity at the Kid’s Club. Participants can choose between three tree species, each rich with meaning:
• Golden Bell Tree – A symbol of prosperity in Feng Shui, believed to attract wealth and good fortune.
• Bauhinia Variegata – Representing beauty, grace, and life’s fleeting nature.
• Coconut Tree – Known as the “tree of life,” symbolizing generosity and resilience.
Once planted, guests receive a personalized name tag for their tree and receive photo updates tracking its growth. These trees line a picturesque pathway that staff affectionately call “The Walk of Green,” a growing testament to the resort’s commitment to sustainability.
“Leave your mark on our resort by selecting from three tree species that each have significant meaning,” says Alma’s Managing Director, Herbert Laubichler-Pichler.

Powering a Sustainable Future
Beyond tree planting, Alma Resort is making waves with an ambitious solar energy initiative that may be the most extensive in Vietnam’s hospitality industry. The resort is installing 4,476 solar panels covering 23,290 square meters, generating enough energy to power 25-35% of the resort’s total electricity needs, depending on occupancy. The system, with a peak capacity of 2,462 kilowatts, harnesses Cam Ranh’s abundant sunshine to significantly reduce the resort’s carbon footprint.
From Farm to Table: A Self-Sustaining Approach
Sustainability at Alma extends far beyond energy use. The resort has created a Herb Garden, Nursery Garden, and Chicken Farm that provide fresh ingredients for its restaurants. Guests can take complimentary guided garden tours to learn tips for growing their own vegetables and caring for chickens. Soon, Alma will introduce interactive cooking classes, where guests will pick, clean, and prepare their own farm-to-table meals.

An Award-Winning Commitment to Green Luxury
Alma Resort doesn’t just talk about sustainability—it has the accolades to back it up. This year, the resort was ranked No. 1 in Southeast Asia, No. 2 in all of Asia, and No. 9 worldwide in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards. Scoring an impressive 99.2 out of 100, Alma continues to set the gold standard for eco-conscious luxury.
With its groundbreaking solar project, farm-to-table dining, and immersive guest experiences like tree-planting, Alma Resort Cam Ranh is proving that luxury and sustainability are a perfect match. For those looking to leave a meaningful mark on the world while indulging in world-class hospitality, this might just be the ultimate eco-friendly getaway.
