The story of the Norwegian Jewel is a cautionary tale of how quickly things can change during the COVID-19 outbreak. But more importantly it showcases one woman’s struggle to help her fellow passengers and the hundreds of Australians quarantined in Sydney upon their return home. Ambre Hammond is a classical pianist who was on the cruise to perform a few shows as it sailed from Fiji to Papeete in French Polynesia. If all had gone according to plan she’d have been home to Sydney in nine days.
The cruise did not go according to plan!
What follows is her tale and her first person account of the experience from her forced quarantine in a Sydney hotel. This is a story which needs to be told. Ambre is still working tirelessly to help those quarantined to keep their spirits up while advocating for their mental and physical well-being.
