Thompson Chicago is a refined, chic 247 room hotel in a prime location in Chicago’s Gold Coast area. This is a den of design which effortlessly blends form with function, chic with cosy and refined with raw. I guess you can tell by now we really liked it.
Our Corner King was large, luxuriously appointed, fashion forward and yet very comfortable and practical for working or relaxing.
The heart of the room was the oversized couch and sitting area which had great natural light from the multiple windows on two sides. This is the real joy of a corner suite.
The long bathroom had a well lit sink, deep soaking tub and separate walk-in rain shower, all wrapped in a sparkling white tile. It felt very fitting for the the retro-futuristic design of the property.
The property’s bar Salone Nico was more filled with locals than guests who appreciate their cocktails. The restaurant Nico Osteria helmed by Chef Joe Lambert specializes in homemade pastas, seafood and other rustic creations. The breakfast frittata was excellent.
Thompson Chicago is now part of Hyatt and so World of Hyatt members have yet another great property to enjoy. We definitely recommend this hotel with it’s professional and yet relaxed service, great bones, and unbeatable location.
