Kitchener, a city in Canada may not be a well known destination, but it’s home to Google Canada and is conjoined with the city of Waterloo which is a technology hotbed in the Great White North. It’s where Blackberry is from, it supports a flourishing tech sector and has many insurance companies and universities, so there’s a lot going on.
The place to stay, especially if you’re World of Hyatt member is The Walper Hotel, a design driven boutique property housed in an iconic red brick building that has been a local landmark since 1893.
We had the Historic King Suite which is the hotel’s largest space at 615 sq ft.
The generous living and dining room featured oversized windows with a cityscape view, and a record player with a nice selection of albums.
It is a great space to work or entertain in. It has a second two piece bathroom for guests.
The king bed was very comfortable and the Nespreso machine was well used.
The property has lots of nooks and crannies to meet in, a grand Crystal Ballroom for weddings and TWH Social, their in-house restaurant with gastro-pub fare based on local ingredients.
The Walper Hotel is definitely the cool kid in town and the staff was very accommodating for Globalists, which is always appreciated. We’ll be back.
