Lounging Around: The Centurion Lounge Hong Kong Airport

The Centurion Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport is a signature lounge for American Express and only available to certain Platinum card members. This is the only Centurion Lounge in Asia although Amex does have other branded lounges in Delhi, Mumbai, Sydney and Melbourne. This lounge joins many other excellent lounges in HKG including Cathay Pacific’s great selection, Thai Airways, United, Emirates and numerous Plaza Premium lounges accessible with Priority Pass.

The Centurion Lounge is a quiet, pleasant place to relax before your flight. It offers showers, a work room/board room and ample sitting areas with power plugs and USB charging outlets. The bar area offers a nice variety of wine and Champagne, beers and cocktails, along with a selection of cheeses and chips, nachos and salsa, guac, sour cream. The bartenders were quite friendly and competent.

The food was quite good and refreshed often. As you’d expect from a lounge in Hong Kong the offering was mainly Asian. There were fried spring rolls, a tasty chicken curry with rice, spicy shrimp, chicken puff pastries and more.

But really the nicest thing about the Centurion Lounge is the view of the runway. With HKIA’s great windows the view airside is excellent.

The next time you’re passing through Hong Kong rather than just using your airline or airline partner’s lounge, we recommend you try the Centurion Lounge and enjoy the food, drinks, peace, quiet and stellar views.
