Hotel Check In: Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit

In a city filled with some of the best hotels in the world the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit isn’t one of them. Don’t get us wrong the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit is a really nice hotel, in an excellent location, with a very nice executive lounge, good amenities and typically excellent and genuine Thai service, it’s just not the newest, most luxurious property in the Thai capital.  It’s a Volkswagen not a Porsche and that’s fine with us.

We had a Premier Deluxe Room which was an upgrade based on being Platinum Elite with Marriott Bonvoy. The room was well laid out with a comfortable king bed, desk area and two closets. But the real focal point was the large marble bathroom with a luxurious soaking tub which offered a lovely view.

The property is ideally located off of Sukhumvit Road near the Thong Lo BTS. This means restaurants, shopping, nightlife and lots of action are a short walk away. It’s a prime location.

The property has a comfortable pool area, lots of eating options and the Octave Rooftop Bar which shows off just how impressive Bangkok views can be. The staff were excellent and the executive lounge, though not large, delivered a very high caliber breakfast, impressive tea and generous evening food and drinks. The complimentary drinks service runs from 5:30 to 9:30 which is much longer than most. The F&B was very good.

The room itself was nice but missing a coffee maker (Nescafe instant coffee doesn’t do it for us) and there were signs of wear and tear. This is clearly a property which is usually very busy.

That said, we recommend the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit as a solid property with a very high level service, lots of in house drinks and dinning options and a very nice lounge. It also is in an ideal location for both business and leisure travelers to Bangkok.
