Croatia Gains Three More MICHELIN Restaurants

Recently Croatia, a small but powerful gastronomic powerhouse, gained three more prestigious MICHELIN star restaurants. The restaurants Nebo (Rijeka), Alfred Keller (Mali Lošinj) and Agli Amici (Rovinj) were awarded with one MICHELIN star, while the restaurants Pelegrini (Šibenik), 360º (Dubrovnik), Monte (Rovinj), Noel (Zagreb), Draga di Lovrana (Lovran), Boškinac (Novalja) and LD Terrace (Korčula), kept their stars.

Croatia is a culinary destination known for its seafood, rustic meat dishes and delicious wines.

“For the entire Croatian culinary scene, the awarding of the prestigious MICHELIN labels under the global coronavirus pandemic is an exceptional success. This is very important for Croatian tourism because our country now has a total of 10 restaurants with a MICHELIN star i.e. a total of 79 restaurants with at least one designation in this prestigious gastronomic guide. This confirms the quality of Croatian gastronomy, i.e. our overall tourist offer in this segment, which is one of the main motives for arrival for many travel enthusiasts around the world. The presence of our country in MICHELIN guides provides additional promotion and visibility, but also motivates us to make Croatia a prominent and internationally recognized eno-gastronomic destination”, said the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, congratulating all the awarded and selected restaurants.

“Croatia is a particularly interesting destination that allows travelers and gourmets to enjoy authentic and diverse gastronomic experiences. The country offers local chefs local products of exceptional quality, which makes them surpass themselves day by day”, said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of MICHELIN’s guides. “The last few months have been difficult for your country, not only because of the health crisis, but also because of the earthquake. Despite all of the challenges, the Croatian culinary scene is growing, especially on the coast and in the capital. Our inspectors were able to find professionals who are passionate and committed to their country”, added Poullennec.

In addition to the above, on Bib Gourmand list seven more restaurants were included, i.e. restaurants Konoba Mate (Korčula), Dunav (Ilok), Konoba Fetivi (Split), Izakaya by Time (Zagreb), Vuglec Breg (Krapina), Konoba Malo Selo (Buje) and Alla Beccaccia (Valbandon). Thus, Croatia today boasts a total of 13 restaurants with this MICHELIN label, which is awarded to restaurants that offer quality menus at affordable prices.

The new edition of the MICHELIN guide for Croatia for 2021 includes new MICHELIN Green Starlabel, which has been awarded to Zinfandel’s restaurant (Zagreb). It is a label which is awarded to restaurants that are especially dedicated to gastronomy that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
