Travel never has been very democratic, the rich have always had the ability to buy better service, pay for more perks, better amenities and generally have a nicer experience. On the extreme end of this is how the steerage class decks were locked on the Titanic as it sank and the first class passengers were loaded onto their own, very uncrowded lifeboats. Today things may not be this pronounced but for anyone who’s travel first on Emirates and then on a discounter like Ryanair it’s hard to argue that the two travel experiences aren’t world’s apart.

But hang on, the spread between how the rich and poor travel is once again going to get a whole lot more pronounced.
