And the winner is… Everyone

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 have just been announced and for the third year in a row Bangkok-based, Indian-inspired madman Gaggan Anand’s eponymous eatery Gaggan once again topped the list. This is his third year in a row being recognized as the most important Chef in Asia.  Kolkata-born Anand is a superstar in the food world and a good example of how the food scene is changing.

Looking at the entire list it’s easy to see how Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo dominate the food industry in Asia. Bangkok always receives multiple awards and these days Seoul is an up can comer. Notably absent are a lot of Chefs from mainland China. Although a having extensively filmed the F&B scene in China we’re confident to say, that will change soon.

Right now though for the savvy travel, grab this list and start making reservations for your next trip. We haven’t tried all of this year’s winners but certainly have had the pleasure of working with many of the top Chefs and can say without hesitation, that there’s an amazing amount of culinary talent across Asia. And each year the talent keeps expanding and their offerings keep becoming more unique and more innovative.

It’s a great time to enjoy the culinary scene in Asia.
